In an interview with CNBC, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases stated that the ongoing stay-at-home orders put in place to help slow the spread of coronavirus, might cause “irreparable damage” if they stay in place too long.

Just last week, Dr. Fauci testified before Congress (in the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions) that lifting those restrictions might cause more “suffering and death.”

Dr. Fauci was responding to a question as to whether the public health benefit is worth the extreme impact on our economy and lives. In essence asking “can’t we just protect the most vulnerable?” Fauci allowed now is the time to start seriously looking at getting back to some type of normal if done in the “appropriate way.”
