The importance of our nation's immigration laws

U.S. Rep. Lou Barletta (R ' PA) is the chairman of the 112th Class Immigration Caucus and the former mayor of Hazleton, Pennsylvania, where he instituted the Illegal Immigration Relief Act, the first local ordinance cracking down on illegal immigration in the nation.

On June 18th I interviewed Congressman Barletta and we had a frank discussion about the importance of our nation's immigration laws especially in protecting American lives and American jobs and the way that President Obama's speech of June 15th in which he said that the administration would seek to provide employment authorization for hundreds of thousands if not, in fact, millions of illegal aliens would undermine those extremely critical immigration laws.

It is worth noting that I was the final witness at the trial held in federal court as a result of a lawsuit that was filed by the ACLU to block the implementation of the Illegal Immigration Relief Act.
