It seems that, come hell or high water, there is nothing that will stop the Obama administration from doing everything they can to continue their cover-up of the events that took place in Benghazi and resulted in the deaths of four Americans, including Christopher Stevens, our ambassador to Libya. Speculation as to what actually took place is really all that much of the general public knows, as the Administration is being more than characteristically tight-lipped about the events.
Oddly enough, some of the best information about what may have actually been going on in Benghazi is coming from Canada Free Press,
where you can find even more speculation, but at least there you can find some well-founded speculation with a bit of evidence backing it up.
It is truly sad that, almost four months after a U.S. Ambassador was assassinated, the American public still has no idea as to what actually happened.
The pundits and various members of Congress did seem to care about Benghazi for a short time, when it looked like Susan Rice, who played an active role in the cover-up, was being considered to replace Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State. Unfortunately, their concern did not seem to extend beyond keeping Rice out of the Secretary of State position. Rice withdrew from the running before she had even been nominated, and the issue died.
But the quibble over Susan Rice and how her mindless repetition of the administration's doctored talking points effected her qualifications to be Secretary of State was just a distraction from the real issues surrounding Benghazigate: why was the compound in Benghazi attacked? What was going on at the compound? What was Ambassador Stevens doing there? Why was additional military assistance denied both before and during the attack?
A few things have become clear, to those who have been willing to dig.
For starters, there is compelling evidence that the compound was not a consulate, as has been widely reported, and that the compound's designation was changed following
the attack as part of the cover-up. It was a CIA compound, and may have been a secret prison where Islamist terrorists were being held, and perhaps were being tortured for information.
The most likely reason given for Ambassador Stevens's presence there is that he was trying to facilitate a weapons trafficking deal with Turkey, allowing the US to funnel weapons to the rebels in Syria, much like we did to the rebels in Libya not that long ago. It has also been speculated (though there is much less backing to this theory) that the goal of the attack was to capture
the ambassador, rather than to kill him, in order to facilitate a prisoner exchange: the Blind Sheik for our ambassador. It wasn't long after the attack that speculation began to swirl in the media that the Obama administration was looking to cut a deal with their new friends in the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt to secure the Blind Sheik's release.
For those who don't know, Omar Abdel-Rahman, commonly known as "The Blind Sheik," is currently serving a life sentence for his role in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, as well as other terrorist plots.
The latest news is that seems to have disappeared. She was scheduled to testify before Congress, but as the reports tell it, she succumbed to an illness, fell, and got a concussion. Oddly enough, the Secretary of State does not seem to have been taken to a hospital for medical care following her reported concussion...and conveniently enough, all of this got her out of having to testify before Congress. They're calling her mysterious illness the "Benghazi flu." She is scheduled to testify in January, but since no one seems to have seen or heard from her, it only stands to reason that she is biding her time, trying to figure out how she can skip out on testifying next time.
The Obama Administration's cover-up of the events in Benghazi has been foolish and clumsy from the beginning, so if the cover-up is successful, it is not because President Obama is so good at covering up his misdeeds, but rather it is because the American media just doesn't seem to care. Apparently, the assassination of a United States Ambassador, rather than being an act of war, was just another election year issue to the media, and now that the election is over, they seem to think no one cares anymore.
Benghazi is only one of many of the scandals that define the true nature of the Obama administration. There are plenty of Americans who still care. This issue is not going away.
