Producers control what they do with no limits and have the chance to perform it live without a band
Electronic Dance Music Duo EP to be released on iTunes
Mitch Schram and Tom Soumbos met through their involvement in music in a previous band. With a Deadmau5 tattoo engraved into his chest, Mitch went to the New Years 2012/2013 show with Tom. "Safe to say we were inspired," Mitch says. This night marked the beginning of something monumental for what would later be known as Colours.
The rise in popularity in electronic music didn't discourage Mitch and Tom from turning their project idea into a reality.
"It's one hundred percent on the rise. [EDM] is the modern day disco, in my opinion," Mitch says, "but I'm not opposed to that. It simply makes us be more competitive to others."
With the help of networking tools, social media and music sharing sites such as www.SoundCloud.com, the sound of Colours has already reached the ears of thousands.
"SoundCloud is by far the best tool, but at the same time you come across a lot of artists that put stuff out just to say, 'Yeah, I'm a f***in' DJ,'" says Mitch.
For those who are impatiently anticipating the drop of the Colours EP, they have released a few songs to preview what listeners will be able to purchase on iTunes. These tracks can be heard at www.SoundCloud.com/ColoursEDM.
Tom describes their sound as "a genre where producers control what they do with no limits and have the chance to perform it live without a band and still give the audience the same experience."
Sporadic and Alison ft. vocalist Jess Henshaw are two of the tracks on SoundCloud that will be on the album. "We have 3 more tracks that will be on there that people haven't heard, and those are what we are most excited for," the duo announces.
The EP will also include a DVBBS remix and a dubstep track with fellow local artist DitherCo.
Colours works closely with London's Le Camp Productions, a group of talented music enthusiasts whose expertise include producing music videos and promoting.
"MvjinBu is the next upcoming hip hop artist man," Mitch says, "That dude can write a god damn novel if he wanted to. He can write lyrics for any type of genre." MvjinBu of Le Camp Productions wrote the lyrics for Colour's track Alison. Check out his work at www.SoundCloud.com/MvjinBu.
"Kory [of Le Camp] is a genius at the sampling and production of hip hop beats and Jason is probably one of the most talented sound engineers I know."
Colours isn't expecting all of their listeners to buy their music. They just hope that people still believe in supporting a dream and sharing what the project that they have invested countless hours of work into.
"Realistically we did this for fun, but now seeing the feedback from our music, it's like, wow people actually dig it, lets keep going!" Mitch says.
