Hillary Clinton has come under attack by the Conservative movement over the past, well, forever, but I'm not entirely sure their last round of attacks, in anticipation of Clinton's 2016 run for the Presidency, aren't backfiring on them.
Instead of just concentrating on her recent voting record, her numerous on-going ties to special minority interests (e.g. Monsanto, Wall Street, Military-Industrial Complex), and focusing on her neocon views and opinions, the GOP leadership is almost strengthening Hillary Clinton rather than weakening her.
By bringing up irrelevant facts from Hillary's past as a defense lawyer or some other nonsensical "fact", they are providing her with a golden shield of fog to opaque her current views and beliefs.
If that shield of fog dissipates, we would see that Hillary Clinton is made out of the stuff that produces plutocrats and necons. What exactly makes Hillary a democrat? More importantly, what progressive principles has she voted for in the past, or likely to vote for in the future?
How can Hillary Clinton progress our country forward when she thinks consumers are silly to want to have their food labeled for GMOs? How can she progress our country forward when war is the first option on the table for her, regardless of the costs to taxpayers? How can she progress our country forward with a voting record that looks like a neocon's voting record on anything concerning foreign policy, defense spending, and the mass violation of our civil liberties via hidden governmental programs like the NSA Prism program?
If you are a conservative, I'm not sure why you haven't adopted Hillary Clinton as your own candidate? Hillary shares in many of your pro-corporatist views and governance philosophies, you might actually like what you hear from Hillary Clinton if you just listen to her speak.
But, where does that leave the Democratic voter? Already confused, most democratic voters seem happy to usher in another Clinton, according to the latest polls, even the new generation of millennial democratic voters seem to want Hillary Clinton as their Democratic nominee in 2016.
While the average American full-time laborer makes $37,000 - $47,000
a year, and a good chunk of full-time laborers will retire with a retirement package worth about $75,000 - $110,000
, on average; Hillary talks about how she and Bill were poor by the time they left the White House. Don't know any poor people with a 24 hour security detail, or multiple multi-million dollar homes, but then again, I'm not a deranged plutocrat like Hillary Clinton.
Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton, born October 26, 1947, is the 67th United States Secretary of State, serving in the administration of President Barack Obama. She was a United States Senator for New York from 2001 to 2009. As the wife of the 42nd President, Bill Clinton, she was the First Lady of the United States from 1993 to 2001. | Photo: Richard Phibbs |
Clinton still talks about her struggles to overcome poverty to this date, she makes over $200,000 a speech, that's $90,000 more than what an average American full-time laborer's retirement package contains after 40 years of labor. Hillary is so detached from what is pertinent to the average American, she can't help but to continually stick her foot, sometimes both feet, firmly into her mouth.
What is sad, is that she may prevent true progressive politicians, not beholden to special interests, from a real chance of sitting in the White House. Senator Bernie Sanders could potentially combine his campaign with the allure and popularity of Senator Elizabeth Warren to form a truly progressive ticket for the Presidency of the United States.
But, not if Hillary runs, the vested interests will spend billions to tear down the other candidates and mislead the American electorate into electing another oligarch (in Hillary Clinton). Worse yet, they may pull Senator Elizabeth Warren into the jaws of the Clinton campaign machine to strengthen Hillary's candidacy, and that will destroy Warren's future as a viable and trustworthy progressive.
Perhaps if President Obama didn't lie to the democratic and progressive voters in 2008, solid politicians actually deserving of our support would be the easy choice for voters come 2016. Unfortunately, the bad taste left in our mouths from the elegant lies wielded by then Senator Obama, have left people highly skeptical of anyone advocating policies to improve America. Because of the false bravado Senator Obama campaigned on, we as an electorate have regressed back into our shells of living with comfortable lies, rather than getting our hopes up for real change.
And no one better represents comfortable lies more than Hillary Clinton, after all, she saved herself and Chelsea from a horrific sniper attack upon a Bosnian runway, led the movement to save Africa
from starvation with the proliferation of GMOs while at the State Department, and was barely able to pull out of poverty while making millions a year.
