ISIL coat of arms

The Islamic State, also known as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), is an unrecognized state and a jihadist group. In its self-proclaimed status as a caliphate, it claims religious authority over all Muslims across the world. | Photo: Monotheist | Link | Isil, Isis, Terrorist, Jihad, Islamic State Of Iraq And The Levant, Muslim,

[Comments] There are a few things that make ISIS more of a threat to both US national security and worldwide security than other Islamic fundamentalist groups and foreign terrorist organizations. Primary among these is the complete lack of any sort of sense of self-preservation present in many ISIS members. This utter lack of self-preservation is scarily dangerous because of the merciless brutality it inspires and promotes. When one has no sense of self-preservation at all, there is nothing - absolutely nothing - that is out of the question.

This lack of self-preservation is further fueled by the apocalyptic views possessed by both members of and those flocking to join ISIS. They are entirely convinced that we are living in the end-times. Not that the end-times are close at hand, but that we are currently living in them. This in turn means that, in their minds, the re-establishment of the Caliphate - The Islamic State - is happening in the here and now, Yum al-Deen, the Day of Judgment is on her way, and that Jannah, Paradise, will soon open her doors for eternity to the Muslim faithful. And if this is the case - if this is true - then why would one possess a sense of self-preservation? That, at least, is their reason of thought.

It is those who have been brainwashed by these skewed ideological and theological beliefs, and completely lack any sense of self-preservation that heinously beheaded American journalists James Foley and Steven Sotloff, and British aid worker David Haines. It is those who have been brainwashed by these skewed ideological and theological beliefs, and completely lack any sense of self-preservation that have been kidnapping, torturing, raping and brutally murdering religious and ethnic minorities across Syria and Iraq: both non-Muslim and Muslim alike. And it is those who have been brainwashed by these skewed ideological and theological beliefs and completely lack any sense of self-preservation that will literally commit any act of brutality, any act of sin imaginable, with no sense of remorse, no sense of regret, and no fear as to potential consequences at all, that are within the ranks of ISIS; within the ranks of the foreign terrorist organization that has openly declared Jihad, Holy War on America, the West, non-Muslims worldwide, and even those who claim to be Muslim yet do not fit into ISIS' extremely limited definition of what constitutes a "true Muslim". In other words, there is nobody - literally nobody at all - outside of those who have proclaimed allegiance to ISIS - The Islamic State - who are exempt from those persons ISIS believes must be killed.

It is for this reason that the US absolutely must make a firm and resolved commitment to see the complete destruction of ISIS. A half-hearted approach against this terrorist organization will not be adequate. With a group as barbaric, evil and unrestrained as ISIS, that continues to attract equally barbaric, evil and unrestrained lunatics, only a response that will literally send fear and trembling into the souls of those who would so much as even consider joining their ranks will suffice.

He was starting a new phase of life in a region of the world he would call ‘home’ for most of the next decade. Jeff was taking his first breaths of Middle Eastern air, thinking of the world becoming a better place… In contrast to most... (more...)
