Or, a 21st Century Case of Penis Envy

All Americans are familiar with these three historical characters addressed herein: Adolf (yes, that odious freak), Ahab (flawed but eminently redeemable) & Jezebel (Ahab's literally faithless shiksa wife via diplomatic bonding).

Each is historically---and/or hysterically---real, and in Adolph's case, too too real in the context of maximum human suffering, which is not to deny the other two, the Kardashian couple of their day as rulers of Israel, or at least its Northernmost region.

King Ahab, it seems, married Jezebel as what one historian calls "a brilliant stroke of diplomacy", she being a Phoenician and all, they, the ancient ancestors of the so-called Palestinians of today's middle eastern homeless.

In the Hebrew Book of Kings, she of Lebanon, cajoled her too-diplomatic hubby to shun Yahweh in favor of her Baal. Given her proclivities for lavish dress, coquetry and white-looking makeup affectation in the Bette Davis film set in the antebellum South and the consequent equation with amoral sluttishness is it any wonder why Melville's old Cap'n Ahab obsessed so with spearing her?

So, then, what does this time-jumping trinity of scoundrels have to do with one another and us today as staunch allies of Israel? Just this, to wit:

Item: 1941, one Mufti of Jerusalem, old Haj Amin al-Husseini, flys to Berlin to fawn over the Hebrew-hating Fuhrer; now, whether or not Bibi Netanyahu got the flies on the wall of that din of iniquity to cop the exact dialogue, it's a safe bet the Mufti wasn't there to ask Hitler's permission for the services of his Jewish tailor or advice about the latest facial hair styles from his blind barber, no---talk about forests and their trees, Yeshua..I mean, Jesus!

Item: 2002, one the major Saudi cleric, Shaikh Saad al-Buraik, utters these charming words according to 'National Review': "Their women are yours (Palestinians) to take, legitimately. God made them yours. Why don't you enslave them?" (Aside from the Shaikh's charming guile, apparently he was bent on punishing the so-called Palestinians, given the penchant for whining and deprivation of sex well documented by the secular scholar, Woody Allen). Seriously, ladies and germs, this guy would have just killed 'em as a Borsht Belt comic back in the day--literally.

And to add grievous insult to injured pride it is more than possible that America's first AfricanAmerican President silently shares Netanyahu's amply deserved resentment at the Arab slave trade which decimated Africa's then free sons and daughters just as much if not more than the Atlantic slavers who took millions to American enslavement albeit not nearly the number those Arabs did enslave, estimated at some 18 millions. (That President's absentee father, himself touted as intellectually gifted, somehow forgot his continent's dark Arab history in becoming a Muslim). Alas, how irony, thusly, enslaves us all.

What, then, are we, Israel's firmest allies--be we Jew or Gentile--to make of this M.E.N.A. debacle of the Arab Spring spawned by Bush's mindless warfare and Russia's opportunism in fomenting at least indirectly a massive pogrom of Jewry it has historically practiced with zeal, lately infecting the so-called Palestinians with this hatred tenuously linked to a temple mount housing a mosque of tertiary import to Islam upon a historically Jewish site of Israel's second temple?

In answering this query it is necessary that we realize that this hatred long predates any alleged encroachment upon that third-in-importance mosque, taught as it has been for generations in the schools and mosques of the so-called Palestinians. This, the self-same hatred seething from the foul unholy mouths of the Mufti in 1941 into Hitlerian ears and in 2002 into a journalist's notebook and worldwide organ's pages.

Perhaps we Melvillian descendants of that chronicler of cruel commercial and vengeful pursuits should reassess old Captain Ahab's hunt's cause and, thereby, avert its fatal effects for Captain Netanyahu...and America.
