Following a nine-hour Berkeley City Council Meeting, the council voted to “reform” their police department by setting a goal of a 50% reduction in the force and stripping police of all traffic enforcement duties.

Two weeks earlier, Berkeley partially defunded its police department with the council slashing the budget by 12 percent, or $9.2 million.

Traffic enforcement will be conducted by a “civilian” force.
