According to reporting from The National Pulse, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s former communications director, Brendan Daly, served as “Executive Vice President at Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide” where he ” secured a contract between the lobbying behemoth and China Central Television Network (CCTV).” For more on Pelosi’s China ties, read “She’s Not Speaking For You – How Much Do The Pelosi’s Have Invested In China?”

Daly’s role was to supply CCTV with “strategic counsel.”

“Specifically, the firm helped the state-run propaganda outfit CCTV expand into American homes by “providing strategic counsel, identify relevant parties to communications activities, and media relations to support the launch of CCTV America.”

“Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide will work with CCTV America to communicate to the American public that CCTV America will provide compelling, comprehensive, and balanced news programming from an Asian perspective that is relevant to a global audience,” the 2012 filing in accordance with the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) noted.

“Per CCTV’s FARA registration, however, the outlet is “supervised, owned, directed, controlled, financed, and subsidized” entirely by the Chinese Communist Party.”

According to a number of posters on social media, “China Daily” – a product of CCTV – shows up at the offices of all congressmen and senators every day and no one knows how….?

China’s influence in the U.S. media has been well discussed and written about – AND’s Senior Editor Sam Faddis wrote about The United Front and how it has co-opted U.S. media outlets earlier this summer.

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) uses propaganda and influence operations as a means of projecting its power and weakening its enemies. Chief amongst the targets for these kinds of operations is the United States. These operations are not run on some kind of ad hoc basis. They are coordinated and directed at a national level by the CCP’s United Front Work Department.

The CCP’s United Front system mobilizes the party’s “friends” to strike the party’s enemies. The system has existed for a long time, but it has been greatly energized and expanded in recent years by Xi Jinping. It operates inside foreign political parties, diaspora communities, colleges, and corporations, all with the goal of promoting the party’s interests. The express goals of the United Front system include undermining social cohesion, exacerbating racial tension, and influencing politics.

Representative Jim Banks (R-IN), sent a letter to Banks sent a letter to Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA), chairwoman of the Committee on House Administration, asking for a hearing on China Daily, according to reporting from Breitbart.

“Xi Jinping hopes China Daily will muddy American lawmakers’ understanding of his policies,” wrote -. “All of Congress must fully grasp the way the Chinese Communist Party’s brutalizes its own citizens and subverts the U.S.”

Here’s is more from Bank’s letter to Lofgren.

China Daily is delivered to Congressional offices alongside independent newspapers like Politico and the Hill. So, uninformed staffers could easily mistake China Daily for a legitimate news source regarding China-US relations and the Chinese regime’s policies. That’s clearly the intention of the Chinese Communist Party.

China Daily has successfully injected party propaganda into our free press and even into our governing legislature. Propaganda that downplays China’s human rights violations. That is unacceptable—and Congress has a duty to respond.

A hearing in the Committee on House Administration would immediately reduce the effectiveness of China Daily, inside and outside of Congress. It would publicize the scope of China’s foreign propaganda efforts and the nefarious intent behind them. Members and their staffs would be less likely to mistake China Daily for a reliable news source and American publications would think twice before distributing Xi Jinping approved agitprop.
