Friday it was announced by the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) announcement that former FBI attorney Kevin Clinesmith was to plead guilty to falsifying a memo from the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) to the FBI which stated that Carter Page had indeed been an agent who provided information to the CIA. Clinesmith altered this memo to read that the CIA had denied Page had operated on behalf of the CIA in providing intelligence to that agency. This information was included in the request to the FISA court to get authorization to spy on Page.
In a press conference last week President Trump said of Clinesmith’s guilty plea, “That’s just the beginning” and “you’ll be hearing more.”
Jonathan Turley wrote an OpEd saying the media “has engaged in a pattern of willful blindness to mounting evidence of wrongdoing in the Russian investigation by FBI and DOJ figures.”
