Bob Avakian Has No Interest In Peaceful Protest – He Wants a Revolution

“A statement from Bob Avakian, revolutionary leader, author, and architect of the revolutionary new communism.

To all those who have risen up so powerfully and are demonstrating to say “No More” after the murder of George Floyd, and all the other cold-blooded murders by police.

To all those who have drawn inspiration from this righteous uprising…

We need revolution – nothing less!

A strategic plan for how to make this revolution, and a sweeping vision and concrete blueprint for a radically different and much better world…can be found in the work I have done, including the Constitution for the New Socialist Republic in North America.

You can learn more about this revolution and become part of making it a reality by going to and joining with the revcoms…

Look around you – what seemed impossible yesterday is happening right now! Revolution, why should we settle for anything less?”

You likely don’t know who Bob Avakian is, but…you should.

He is at the heart of the ongoing insurrection in this country, whose goal is not peaceful protest or reform but the complete overthrow of the existing social, political, and economic order. It is the abolition of the United States of America as we know it and the establishment of a communist state in its place.

Bob Avakian is the leader of the Revolutionary Communist Party of the United States, the revcoms referred to in his statement above. He is a former member of the Students for a Democratic Society, a domestic extremist group active in the 1960’s and 1970’s. He often campaigned for buying cheap generic drugs instead of branded ones. In 2016 Avakian’s revcom’s and other leftist groups formed Refuse Fascism. This group is one of the primary driving forces behind the rise of Antifa nationwide.

Avakian is remarkably direct about his intentions and the goals of his movement.

“Let’s get down to basics. We need a revolution. Anything else, in the final analysis, is bullshit.”

Bob Avakian

Avakian’s party is no less direct. There can be no ambiguity whatsoever about its goals or its methodology. Its proposed constitution for the New Socialist Republic in North America reads in part.

“The New Socialist Republic in North America is…a form of dictatorship – the dictatorship of the proletariat…”

“In accordance with this, the governing bodies and processes of this socialist state, at all levels, must be vehicles for the furtherance of the communist revolution…”

“The fundamental objective is to carry out the development of the economy and the transformation of economic relations, and relations in society and the world overall, in such a way as to eliminate and uproot all aspects of exploitation and oppression and so that finally the means of production become the common property and resource of the whole of society…With the achievement of communism, throughout the world, ownership of the means of production by the whole people will take place directly…”

“The armed forces, militia, and other organs of public defense and security shall be under a system of overall leadership combining the central Executive Council and the Revolutionary Communist Party, with the Party having the ultimate leadership responsibility and role.”

“The responsibility for the enforcement of the laws and the defense of the Constitution by the organs of public security resides with the Executive Council, with the overall and ultimate leadership of the Revolutionary Communist Party.”

Most of the so-called mainstream media continue to spew the nonsensical lie that what we are seeing across the nation is nothing more than “peaceful protest” designed to achieve change and reform within the existing system. Perhaps police forces will be made to be “kinder and gentler.” Perhaps there will be new social programs with more of an emphasis on helping people avoid incarceration or teaching them trades. We will still live in the United States as we know it when this is all over. It will just be a better nation.

There are no doubt people out in the streets who honestly believe this and think all they are marching for is justice. There were no doubt a great many people in the streets in Russia in 1917 as well who thought they were involved in an effort that would lead to a better, more democratic future. They discovered far too late that at the heart of the movement in which they were caught up were hard men with very different ideas about the future.

We cannot afford to be so naïve.

Antifa, Black Lives Matter, and all their affiliates are Marxist groups bent on transforming our republic into a Communist state. They know exactly what they are about, and they are well on their way to achieving it. CNN may continue to blather on about “mostly peaceful protests.” Bob Avakian and the Revolutionary Communists are out to achieve something much, much bigger.
