Two U.S. Capitol Hill Police officers were hit early this afternoon by a vehicle outside the Capitol the U.S. Capitol Police reported via Twitter. A suspect is in custody and both officers are injured. Both officers and the suspect have been transported to the hospital. It is being reported that the Capitol building is an “empty” capitol – presumably, as it is a Friday afternoon before the Easter holiday.
Update: NBC News is reporting that the suspect tried to ram a barrier and then exited their vehicle with a knife and was shot by USCP officers. (2:05PM)
Update: AP is reporting that one USCP officer was killed when a suspect rammed a barricade outside the Capitol. A second officer was injured. The suspect was shot and later died from his wounds. (3:18PM)
