A month ago, the Governor of Texas ended the mask mandate in his state and announced that businesses could fully reopen. If there was ever any validity to the guidance provided to us by “experts” such as Dr. Fauci, Texas should be a killing field right now. The entire state has abandoned the “science” and launched out on a course only a “Neanderthal” would recommend. The morgues should be full. The ICU’s should be overflowing with patients.
Strangely, though, that is not the case. In fact, something very different is happening. Three weeks after the Governor’s decision, new COVID-19 cases in Texas plunged to their lowest level since June of last year. Hospitalizations dropped to a 6 month low. Dining activity in state restaurants returned to pre-COVID levels.
In Mississippi, which followed Texas’ lead, the same thing happened. The number of virus cases dropped. Hospitalizations declined to the lowest level since May of last year.
By any measure this is great news. Combined with the obvious statistical evidence that states that have enforced strict lockdowns are not doing better at containing the virus, this ought to be cause for celebration. Open business. Open the schools. Get back to work and return to normal.
Interestingly, though, that has not been the reaction. The CDC Director recently noted her feeling of “impending doom” when talking about our efforts to combat the pandemic.
“I’m going to pause here, I’m going to lose the script and I’m going to reflect on the recurring feeling I have of impending doom,” Walensky said, appearing to grow emotional. “We have so much to look forward to. So much promise and potential of where we are and so much reason for hope. But right now I’m scared.”
Dr. Fauci reminded us again that removing mask mandates was “risky business.”
The usual chorus of other voices continued to caution us of the consequences of daring to disregard the guidance we have been given for the last year. “We have this continuing story of recklessness from governors who are opening too early …,” said Irwin Redlener, director of the Pandemic Resource and Response Initiative at Columbia University.
“There is a sense of false security,” said Elizabeth Carlton, an associate professor at the Colorado School of Public Health. “If we loosen everything right now, we will see a rise in infection…”
“This is not a time to relax restrictions — especially the governors who are all high-fiving themselves saying we’re out of this. We’re not,” said Dr. Peter Hotez, co-director of the Center for Vaccine Development at Texas Children’s Hospital.

Meanwhile the Biden administration is reportedly working on plans for vaccine passports, without which Americans would be unable to travel freely and go about their normal daily lives. Americans would have to show their passports before entering sporting venues, restaurants or using public transportation of any kind. If you have seen a World War Two movie you should be familiar with the drill. “Show me your papers.” These passports would reportedly take the form of a scannable code of some kind displayed on smartphones much as tickets for events or flights are often shown today.
New York has, of course, already led the way in this direction. It has the Excelsior Pass, which proves either that the bearer is fully vaccinated or has recently tested negative for the virus. Major venues in the Empire State including Madison Square Garden in New York City and the Times Union Center in Albany have already announced that they intend to require the use of the pass to gain entry to events. Smaller venues are expected to follow suit.
“The Times Union Center looks forward to using this platform and making this excellent technology available for future events,” said Bob Belber, GM of the Times Union Center. “This will be a game changer for our venue’s continued reopening process and for New Yorkers in the Capital Region and beyond.”

Most ominously of all, there are reports that vaccine passports may ultimately be required in order for you to return to your physical work space. No vaccine? No job.
Why? If states that are open are showing numbers of new cases falling dramatically why would anyone be thinking about continuing the measures that have devastated our economy and subjected our people to oppressive and unprecedented restrictions on their daily lives? Beyond that, why we would we now want to institutionalize this kind of assault on our liberties?
The answer is straightforward if chilling. This is a golden opportunity.
The class of “experts” and elitists that aspires to run this country and finds the common people – at best an annoyance – has found in COVID-19 the answer to their prayers. Under the guise of controlling a virus and responding to an “emergency” would-be despots from the statehouse to the White House, have now undertaken to control and micromanage the most intimate details of the lives of our citizens. With remarkably little debate and precious little resistance, these oligarchs have decided they can control every aspect of your life.
Key to this ability has been the adoption of the idea of a “lockdown,” in its most extreme form also known as “house arrest.” The fact is that there was never any contemplation of the use of lockdowns in any of the decades long planning for the possibility of a pandemic. Quarantines, which involved restricting the movement of infected individuals are one thing and have been used throughout time. No one has ever seriously suggested the idea of restricting the movements of people who show no evidence of being infected.
In fact, the idea of a lockdown originated in China with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). It was then adopted, of course, by the World Health Organization, which might as well be an arm of the CCP. Almost instantaneously, it was then taken up by “experts” like Dr. Fauci, without debate or any real analysis. It was too attractive an idea. Suddenly, the government had the ability to dictate virtually everything about your life and to bypass all of the freedoms you thought you had.
You may want an end to lockdowns and other government restrictions as fast as humanly possible. The people who believe and always have believed that it is their God given right to control the nation and run your life disagree. It is not just that they don’t want to end government intrusions right now. They don’t want those intrusions to ever end, and frankly, they want them to expand.
In Texas the lockdown has ended. Life has returned to normal. You may find that welcome. The people developing vaccine passports disagree. They regard it as a threat to their power and their plans.
