Whitmer Kidnapping Suspects Claim FBI Setup

According to reporting by Buzzfeed, the suspects in the widely-publicized case to kidnap Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer in September 2020 claim that they were setup by the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation). A longtime FBI informant was apparently responsible for setting up the early meetings in which many of the kidnapping suspects initially meet – paying for hotel rooms and expenses to encourage them to come to those meetings.

The defendants in the case, as well as others caught up in the sweeping investigation claim that their talk never actually rose beyond “the level of fantasy” and they never intended to harm anyone.  They do not deny taking part in training classes and meetings – nor do they deny being in communication with other defendants.

An examination of the case by BuzzFeed News also reveals that some of those informants, acting under the direction of the FBI, played a far larger role than has previously been reported. Working in secret, they did more than just passively observe and report on the actions of the suspects. Instead, they (the FBI informants) had a hand in nearly every aspect of the alleged plot, starting with its inception. The extent of their involvement raises questions as to whether there would have even been a conspiracy without them.

So the question is – would there have ever been a conspiracy to kidnap Whitmer without the assistance and role of the FBI?
