Press reports have indicated over the last few days that Anti-Taliban fighters have established a base of operations in the Panjshir Valley and have already launched several attacks on Taliban forces and regained some territory from them. The latest information suggests that the attacks by the new resistance have enjoyed substantial success and that three districts in northern Baghlan province have now been freed from Taliban control. AND Magazine can confirm from its sources inside Afghanistan that this information is correct. The resistance movement in the Panjshir Valley is led by former Afghan vice-president Amrullah Saleh and Ahmad Massoud, the son of Afghanistan’s famed anti-Taliban fighter Ahmad Shah Massoud. Saleh is also the former head of the Afghan National Directorate of Security, the country’s intelligence and security service.
Saleh has declared himself the caretaker President of Afghanistan and vowed not to submit to the Taliban.
Ahmad Massoud said he was “ready to follow in his father’s footsteps.” “But we need more weapons, more ammunition and more supplies,” he wrote in the Washington Post.
As desperate as he is, though, Massoud right now refuses to talk to the United States Government. Understandably, he believes Washington has betrayed the Afghan people, and he does not trust the Biden administration at all.
Per information coming out of the Panjshir, the Haqqanis, who fought American forces for years, are sending forces to Kabul to participate in whatever action is required to expel American forces at the airport. Sirajuddin Haqqani, one of the groups’ leaders, arrived in Kabul days ago to oversee operations there. His uncle Khalil al-Rahman Haqqani has now been named by the Taliban to run security in Kabul.
Sirajuddin Haqqani planned the 2008 assassination attempt against Afghan President Karzai. He was designated a global terrorist by the U.S. that same year. The Haqqani network is formally allied with Al-Qaeda, in fact, Osama Bin Laden underwent training as a jihadist in a Haqqani-run camp. It was the Haqqani’s who helped Bin Laden escape at Tora Bora and avoid capture by American forces. The group was designated a Foreign Terrorist Organization in 2012.
The Haqqanis are also actively cooperating with Pakistani intelligence. They just arranged the delivery of 6 captured American MRAP’s to the Pakistanis. They were loaded onto large trailers used for transportation of armored vehicles and driven through Peshawar to an ultimate destination inside Pakistan.
Meanwhile in Kabul, AND Magazine has learned that the Taliban is working on a plan for actions to take after the United States completes its withdrawal. This plan involves expelling foreign journalists and shutting down internet access to impose an effective media blackout. Once this is achieved, the Taliban will then begin a systematic massacre of all individuals deemed to pose a threat to the new Islamic State.
Significant numbers of foreign jihadists are already on the ground in Kabul. They are participating in the planning for the impending massacre.
Taliban leadership has made the determination that a cutoff of Western foreign aid can be weathered. It is anticipated by them that the Chinese will be willing to provide significant funds in exchange for access to mineral deposits in Afghanistan and that this funding will be sufficient to support Taliban operations.
One of the key themes being pushed by the Biden administration in its pathetic attempt to recast its gross incompetence in Afghanistan has been that the Taliban have somehow evolved into a new “kinder, gentler” version. The indications from the ground are, not surprisingly, that this claim is utterly and completely false.
The Haqqanis were at the heart of the resistance to American efforts in Afghanistan for twenty years. They are international terrorists, allies of Al-Qaeda, and have never deviated from their absolute commitment to jihad and attacks on the West. The emergence of leaders of the Haqqani network at the heart of Taliban operations in Kabul signals to all the world that the “new” Taliban will be exactly like the “old” Taliban just better armed.
Joe is not just condemning the people of Afghanistan to pain, suffering, and death. He is guaranteeing that we will be fighting the menace of worldwide jihad for decades to come.
We will continue to update the situation in Afghanistan as information becomes available.
