We Won’t Be Silenced – Why We’re Moving To Substack

AND Magazine is in the process of shifting its content to Substack. We made the decision to make this move after many months of discussion and consideration.

The sad reality of maintaining a news and commentary site based on ad revenue is that we are dependent on the goodwill and impartiality of our commercial partners in guaranteeing we receive that revenue, that traffic is routed fairly to our site and that no action is taken to drive down our viewership and keep people from reading our content.

That impartiality does not exist in the current political environment. We have for a considerable period of time been trying to swim upstream against a tide of censorship and suppression of our message. Moving to Substack we hope will give us an opportunity to operate on a level playing field.

In addition to throttling of our (modest) ad revenue, every time AND Magazine content attracts attention and starts getting shared, we get hit with ads violations and suppression of our content in searches. We also routinely get reports from our viewers that our links won’t connect to our website – despite having no reported outages or issues with our site.

We understand that moving to Substack will mean going behind a paywall for most of our content. We are committed to keeping the fee for reading our content nominal. We can also all enjoy the fact that AND articles will now be completely ad-free. We will continue to allow free access to all In The News articles we generate and limited portions of our published AND Magazine content will remain available. However, subscribers will have full access to all content.

Thanks to everyone who has supported us over the years. We look forward to continuing to provide you with fact-based analysis and commentary for a long time to come.

Also, many thanks to those of you who have already subscribed on a monthly and yearly basis – we greatly appreciate you being our “early adopters.”
